Community First is a political action committee dedicated to improving local government by supporting candidates who share our optimism that local government can be improved. We believe that elected officials should actively address the challenges New Jersey faces in a manner that is compassionate, practical and non-partisan.
Today, New Jersey faces three critical challenges, namely:

Overdevelopment
Overdevelopment has the potential to negatively affect our quality of life including adversely affecting our schools, traffic, emergency services and property values. Overdevelopment is a challenge being faced all across New Jersey.
We support candidates who advocate for common sense solutions to overdevelopment that have bipartisan support, and who will work in a collaborative manner to address this problem.
Property taxes
Property taxes in New Jersey are the highest in the Nation. Taxes need to be managed in a way that reflects prudent expenditures including paying as you go, carrying little or no debt, keeping adequate reserves on hand, maintaining accurate and current tax-based valuations and sound long-term planning.

We support candidates who are fiscally conservative and believe government should be prudent and transparent in their expenditures.
Supporting small and local businesses
Supporting small and local businesses is key to the economic well-being of our local communities and New Jersey in general. Candidates for public office should seek to ensure that regulatory burdens on local businesses are appropriate and balanced. The small business economy is critical for New Jersey.
We support candidates who believe that wherever possible, governmental regulations should be relaxed in a manner that does not detract from the health, safety and general welfare of the public and the environment.
